Tech zone at Hyderabad to create 65 lakh jobs

Hyderabad: The proposed Hyderabad ITIR (Information Technology Investment Region) plans to create another GHMC under the GHMC limits which will generate almost 65 lakh jobs.

The ITIR received approval from the Center this week, after an initial proposal which was made over two years back.

Not only is the ITIR aimed at boosting the current image of Hyderabad as a major IT destination of the country, it is expected to attract huge investments by providing the right climate for new companies to come in.

However, the demand for water, energy and sewage and solid waste will be exponential as per the findings of a Pricewaterhousecoopers research.

Various departments of the state government, held a day-long workshop to discuss the process of implementation.

Minister for IT, Ponnala Lakshmaiah said on Tuesday that a separate state-level empowered committee would also be created with all stakeholders for implementing the ITIR project.

“With the ITIR coming into play, a huge requirement of roughly 3,000 MW of power, 450 million litre of water per day will arise. Also, there will be 675 tons of solid waste generated per day apart from e-waste. The ITIR plan is to recreate another GHMC area within the current area within a span of 25 years with an investment of Rs 13,000 crore,” said Lakshmaiah on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, VC and MD of APIIC Jayesh Ranjan said that the APIIC, which is the main implementing body for the project, already has a huge land pool of roughly 1,500 acres and is going to add another 1,000 acres over the next year.
